Welcome to my next accountability journey, one that will take you on the physical, emotional and mental adventure through my trials and tribulations of the next 90 days. This 90 day journey begins on February 28th at 5:15am on a local H.S track. These next 90 days are preparing me for a big family vacation to the Mediterranean and Europe. I’d like to look decent and feel comfortable at the pool and beachside in Barcelona.
The journey starts on February 28th and runs for 90 days until Sunday, May 28th. This ends just two days before we depart for Barcelona. My goal weight for the trip is 199lbs. I haven’t been under 200lbs in a very long time and it would be a massive change. We’re looking at 30lbs in 90 days! The quick math on that is 10lbs per month, a task that requires a serious caloric deficit. This won’t be easy.
Over the course of the next 90 days I will competing in three races. The All American Half Marathon on March 25th, the Tar Heel 10-miler on April 22nd and the Run the Branch 5K on May 6th. I will also be traveling to Florida, Georgia, Colorado and Louisiana for a total of 31 days. During all of that I will be conducting track-training and will climb the Manitou Incline when in Colorado. All in all I will be running from Sea-level to Mile-high conditions at 8,850ft (2606m). At the end I will be completing the “MURPH” Challenge. This isn’t going to be easy.
Learn more about the Manitou Incline or simply “Incline” here: https://manitousprings.org/where-to-play/manitou-incline/
I will be using this as an accountability platform that hopefully also doubles as a source of entertainment and possible motivation for your own short-term adventures. No doubt some dumb shit is about to happen in the next 90 days, such as possibly over-eating or drinking at the Universal Studios Mardi Gras celebration or running a half-marathon with only 1-month preparation. I only live once, so I might as well take advantage of my ability to walk, run and move.
The plan
I’m going to break this down into monthly (30 day) increments. At the start I’ll post my metrics and we’ll see how much can possibly change in 90 days. Bodyweight, 5K times, strength, etc.
I’m continuing to run with my COROS Pace 2 running watch along with tracking my mileage with Strava. I have a notebook I’ll be using to manually keep track of my strength training and objectives. As much as I love technology, there is something about putting pencil to paper to work these things out.
Run More.
Eat Less.
Drink Water.
Lift Heavy.
Sleep. (With the help of Melatonin)
Execute the plan.
I hope you’ll follow along as I chronical these next 90 days. It’s going to be a roller coaster, no, it’s going to be like Goofy’s Sky School in Disneyland. That shit was wild. IYKYK.
3…..2…..1…..GO.
